The Advantages of Gas Powered Reel Mowers

Few people may question why anyone would ever want to own gas-powered reel mowers. Gasoline and reel mowers seems to be an unlikely combination since one of the reasons people use reel mowers is that they are a clean way of mowing lawns. However, gas-powered reel mowers have several advantages over any other types of lawn mowers and therefore they are better in some circumstances. Here are some of the good features of gas-powered reel mowers.

First of all, gas-powered reel mowers is a form of a reel mower thus its method of cutting grass is not the same compared to gas-powered rotary mowers. Reel mowers do not tear or shred the grass as it snips it instead, much like a pair of scissors. This is because of the interweaving spiral blade design of reel mowers. This leads to a better and cleaner trim that improves the growth of the grass. It also protects the freshly-trimmed grass from insect attacks and sicknesses.

A further advantage of gas-powered reel mowers is that it is practical for very large lawns. A push reel mower may take you a lot of time and effort to finish a very huge lawn. Corded electric lawn mowers are not advisable either since they are only as good as their cords go.

Battery powered reel mowers can also be limited by their battery life and once it is already discharged, you have to switch to its manual, push reel mower mode, or you can just recharge the batteries and wait for a very long time. In addition, since they cut the grass cleanly and uniformly, gas-powered reel mowers can also be used not just for lawns but also for playing fields and parks as well.

However, there are still some drawbacks of using gas-powered reel mowers.
First of all, it doesn’t use a green technology. Second is that majority of gas-powered reel mowers produces a very deafening noise with their engines. Another disadvantage is that they are very heavy because of their motors. Lastly, they are not cheap to own especially in the long run because you have to pay for gas to make them work.
